Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 June 2026 · Effective: 16 June 2026
The short version: We're a small studio and we collect as little personal information as we can. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads that track you across the web. Where one of our apps needs to collect something to work, we tell you what and why — in plain language — right here.
1. Who we are
This website and the apps listed on it are operated by Laurent & Sons Pty Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in Australia.
For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Laurent & Sons Pty Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
- Privacy contact: via our contact form
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to:
- this website, uselandslabs.com; and
- the mobile and desktop applications we publish under the uselandslabs name (each, an "App"), including our first app, an alarm app currently in development, and any future Apps.
Some Apps may have additional, app-specific privacy details. Where that's the case, the app-specific notice is shown inside the App or on its store listing and should be read together with this policy. If there's ever a conflict, the app-specific notice governs for that App.
3. Information we collect
We aim to collect the minimum needed to provide and improve our products. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
3.1 Information you give us
- Contact details — for example, your email address and message content when you reach out through our contact form or sign up for launch updates.
- Support information — details you choose to share when you ask for help or report a problem.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data — such as device type, operating system version, app version, and crash/diagnostic logs, used to keep our Apps stable and secure.
- Limited website logs — our hosting provider may record standard server logs (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability.
3.3 Information stored on your device
Many of our Apps are designed to work primarily on your device. For example, alarms, settings, and similar content you create in an App are generally stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us unless a specific feature (such as backup or sync) requires it and you have turned it on.
Our alarm app: As currently designed, it stores your alarms and preferences on your device. It does not require an account and is not built to send your alarm data to us. If this changes before launch, we will update this policy and the App's store listing before the feature ships.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- provide, operate, and maintain our website and Apps;
- respond to your enquiries and provide support;
- diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve performance and reliability;
- send you updates you've asked for (e.g. launch notifications) — you can opt out at any time;
- keep our services secure and prevent misuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Consent — e.g. when you opt in to launch updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Performance of a contract — to provide an App or feature you've requested.
- Legitimate interests — to keep our products secure, stable, and improving, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — where we must process information to comply with the law.
6. Sharing and third parties
We share personal information only where necessary, and only with parties that handle it under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection terms. These may include:
- Service providers — such as hosting, email, crash-reporting, and analytics providers who process data on our behalf.
- App stores — Apple App Store and Google Play, which operate under their own privacy policies when you download or purchase an App.
- Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of uselandslabs, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if we're involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
A current list of the specific third-party providers we use is available on request through our contact form.
7. Cookies and analytics
This website is built to be lightweight and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We may use strictly necessary cookies or privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand how the site is used. Where analytics or non-essential cookies are introduced, we will update this section and, where required, ask for your consent first. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. For example, support emails are kept while needed to assist you and for a reasonable period afterward; diagnostic logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted or anonymised. Content stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access — including encryption in transit, access controls, and keeping data collection to a minimum. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's privacy
Our website and Apps are not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us through our contact form and we will delete it.
11. International data transfers
We are based in Australia, and our service providers may process information in other countries. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected — for example, by using providers that offer appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or that operate in jurisdictions recognised as providing adequate protection.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- request deletion of your information;
- object to, or restrict, certain processing;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- request portability of information you provided to us; and
- lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, get in touch through our contact form. We'll respond within the time required by applicable law. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and we honour the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out described above.
13. Australian privacy rights
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first through our contact form so we can try to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our Apps and the law evolve. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or by email. Your continued use of our website or Apps after an update means you accept the revised policy.
15. How to contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information:
